Installation recommendations of particulate and coalescing air filters

Risk of explosion due to oxygen filtration

Please do not use the compressed air filters described here to filter oxygen! Neither the filter materials nor the lubricants resist oxygen. A serious risk of spontaneous ignition or explosion exists. A special filter must be installed to filter oxygen. If you want more information, please contact Yun Air Technology or our distributors.

Hazards from critical media filtration

Yun Air's compressed air filters designed to filter noncritical gases of fluid should never be used to filter explosive, flammable, or toxic gases.

Hazards due to sudden pressure release

Never remove any parts of the air filters, or manipulate it in any way, for as long as it is still pressurized! A sudden pressure escape may cause serious injuries. Any work on the filter should be performed after the filter has been depressed.

Air flowing through the air filter media can reach 80°C, do not touch hot surfaces. Follow the operator's instructions.

Installation recommendations

- It is necessary to depressurize the relevant section of the pipe system before fitting the particulate and coalescing air filters.

- Prior to entering the distribution system, compressed air should be treated as well as at critical usage points / applications.

- When oil-free compressors are used, water aerosols and particulates will remain present, so general purpose and high efficiency

grades should still be used.

- To protect the high efficiency filter from bulk liquid aerosols and solid particles, a general purpose filter must always be installed.

- Install the purification equipment at the lowest temperature above freezing point, preferably downstream of the air receivers and

after coolers.

- The purification equipment should be installed as close to the application as possible.

- Equipment for purification should not be located downstream of quick opening valves and should be protected from reverse flow

and other shock conditions.

- All piping leading to the purification equipment should be purified before installation, as well as after the purification equipment

has been installed and before it is connected to the final application.

- By-pass lines should be installed around purification equipment in order to prevent contamination of the system downstream.

- Install drain lines from coalescing filters directly to a condensate separator. If it is not possible to connect the drain lines directly to

a separator, then they should be vented into a condensate manifold (vented at one end) and then into one inlet of the separator.

- The purification equipment should be equipped with a drain for draining away collected liquids.Liquids collected should be handled

and disposed of in a responsible manner.

- For changing filter elements, sufficient free space underneath the filter must be provided.

- The air filters must always be fitted vertically; an arrow on the air filter housing top section marks the flow direction. A reversed

airflow through a cartridge can damage the cartridge. Make sure the air always flows through the cartridge from bottom to top.
